Northglenn Coach recognized for making history

Congratulations to Northglenn High School Flag Football Coach Lex Gutierrez for making history! Gutierrez was named Denver Broncos Flag Football Coach of the Week after coaching at the first-ever Colorado High School Activities Association's (CHSAA) sanctioned girls flag football game on Saturday, August 17.

This game started the season for girls flag football after CHSAA voted in April to become the 11th state to sanction girls flag football at the high school level. Five Star Stadium in Thornton was host to Northglenn High School and Thornton High School on that historic Saturday. Gutierrez and his team of trendsetters came away with the victory!

This monumental season is being recognized by The Denver Broncos, who were avid supporters and advocates for the sport to the CHSAA. Gutierrez was named the first Denver Broncos Flag Football Coach of the Week, and throughout the season, there will be 10 additional coaches honored each week. A final celebration where all coaches will be honored at halftime of a Broncos game later this season.

You can read more about Coach Gutierrez's selection on CHSAA's website
