Rocky Top Principal honored for CTE Leadership

“Today is going to be a good day” is a saying that you will hear Principal LaShauna Quarles say from Rocky Top Middle School. By advocating for career and technical education courses at the middle school level, Principal Quarles has been named the Colorado Association of Family and Consumer Sciences  Administrator of the Year.

Principal Quarles knows her “why” is to provide a fun, safe and inclusive environment where all students thrive and feel like they belong.

She has embraced the challenge of bringing her “why” into the new Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) program at Rocky Top Middle School. She inherited the program and has advocated for it wholeheartedly from day one.

She believes in it because she believes that students deserve to learn the skills to bring them success in the future, no matter their strengths.

Her support has been unfaltering whether it's through generous funding, having faith in Lisa Tierney, the new FCS teacher, to engage with the students in a way that encourages them and provides them an opportunity to learn about career-forward skills through career and technical education (CTE).
