Staff engage with multi-language students

On Tuesday, April 23, Ms. DeStasio and Ms. Ramirez (the Mountain Range High School equity practitioners) held lunch listening sessions for our multi-language students. Through the sessions our multi-language learners were able tell us as a school what was going well for them, what was not going well, additional supports that would be nice if they had and things that they wished that other teachers and students knew about them. It was awesome to see all of the students come together, from various cultures and backgrounds, and find that they experience many of the same successes and struggles here at Mountain Range.
It was a great to hear the students voices so that we are able to share those stories with our staff. We were also able to make sure all of our students knew about the resources available at Mountain Range, with the support of our wraparound coordinator, Ms. Ellie as well as the support available in counseling, from Ms. Jimenez.
Special thanks to the Mountain Range High School community for submitting this Five Star Story.
This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: 21st Century Learners. Sharing stories of students who collaborate, think critically, problem-solve and are digitally literate to thrive in today’s ever-changing world.
