Stargate hosts Japanese gifted education cohort
- Collaborate
- Focus on Students
During the second week of school, Stargate K-12 had the honor of collaborating with and hosting members from the Ministry of Education in Tsukuba City, Japan as they look to bring gifted education to Tsukuba City and the rest of Japan. Our guests, Mrs. Kyoko Aoba, Mr. Kyoko Aoba and Dr. Hisako Saito, participated in social emotional training (Sources of Strength) alongside our staff members. They took a tour of the elementary school, observed classes, took pictures of classroom environments, and spoke with teachers in elementary and secondary wanting to know how they supported gifted and twice exceptional learners. We are grateful for our interpreter, Mari, who connected our school with the Ministry last year and made this visit possible. We were able to spend the entire day sharing best practices for gifted education and brainstorming how to support gifted learners in Japan who are not typically high achieving. We are very grateful for the time we had and look forward to their return trip!
