Westlake Middle School received the Collaborative SCFD Grant for the 2024-2026 school years! Congratulations!
We are pleased to inform you that Westlake Middle School has been selected to receive the Collaborative SCFD Grant for 2024-2026 school years from The Collaborative of the SCFD, a membership group of art, science and cultural organizations that receive funding from the SCFD, a sales and use tax in the Denver-metro area. We are excited to work with you!
This non-cash grant will be in the range of $8,000-$10,000 worth of programming for year one! As long as the school is in good standing after year one, your school will be able to continue on for a second year. Your team will be able to select from a variety of eligible organizations to receive programs that include: in-school workshops, assemblies, field trips to organizations, in-school exhibits, performing arts field trips and teacher professional development. Bus and substitute support will also be included!
We have already scheduled the Cherry Arts Traveling Art Show, Wings over the Rockies Drone Assembly, Denver Symphony Nightmare Before Christmas, Denver Nature and Science and more. We are so excited! Some of this grant money will be targeted for our very large gifted and talented population to provide extension activities and field trips for their special instructional needs. The picture is of our SCFD Westlake Committee working to schedule all of these incredible activities. We are grateful for this opportunity!
Special thanks to the Westlake Middle School community for submitting this Five Star Story.
This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Diverse Learning. Sharing stories of how students receive engaging learning experiences and the focused-attention they need through appropriate student-to-staff ratios and varied programming.
