CORA Requests
Records Request serves Adams 12 Five Star Schools by providing guidance and regulations for all records produced in the district. The department is responsible for the management of most records including student education records, finance records, and purchasing records among others.
Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) Request
The Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) grants access to public records held by governmental agencies, including school districts. Some records held by Adams 12 Five Star Schools (the District) are not subject to public access under CORA, including records related to students, staff and other matters that would compromise District safety or privacy if disclosed.
Student Records: State and federal law protect the confidentiality of student education records. As a result, these records are not subject to disclosure under CORA. To request archived student education records, please refer to the District's Transcripts and Academic Records page. To request current student education records, please refer to District Policy 5300, Student School Records.
Employee Records: CORA prohibits the District from releasing parts of employee personnel files in an effort to prevent harm to both the employee’s privacy and the integrity of the employment relationship. Employee records accessible under CORA include basic employment information and employment contracts. To request your own employee record, please contact Human Resources.
For more information about the District’s process in responding to CORA requests, please refer to District Policy 1800 Public Records Requests.

The records custodian may waive fees in the amount of $5.00 and less in the custodian's discretion. The requester must notify the records custodian if the requester wishes to have copies of the requested records, rather than just the opportunity to inspect them or receive them electronically.

Transcripts and Academic Records
After a student has graduated from the district or withdrawn for more than one year from the district, the District Records Office assumes custody of the permanent student academic records, where they are archived. Please be advised, once a permanent student record has been archived there is a fee associated with obtaining a copy.
Active students and K-12 schools requesting records must go to the last school they were enrolled to obtain a copy of their records.
As outlined by FERPA, former students may request a copy of your records. A transcript request includes a high school transcript, ACT/SAT/AP scores and an immunization record. Additionally, a student’s archived academic record may include K-12 grades, enrollment history and immunization record.
GEDs and diplomas are not part of the student’s permanent record.
Use our secure online ordering system - (ScribOrder) to request a copy of student records.
Once you're on the ordering site, please note the following information:
- State and government agencies, higher education, and employers may request records regarding a former student by clicking on the appropriate application. A signed authorization form must accompany the request.
- Subpoena or Court Orders for Academic Records should be delivered to the current or last school the student attended. If records have been archived the request will be referred to the District Records Office.
