Equity and Engagement
Adams 12 Five Star Schools strives to meet each student and staff members’ individual and collective needs. The Equity and Engagement Department works to embed a focus on increasing access and opportunity to:
- Supporting academic success of all students
- Fostering a culture of equity and inclusion
- Engaging with the community to produce positive outcomes for all students
Equity work has been a part of the district's ELEVATE strategic plan and our commitment to ensure student success in every classroom, every day.
We believe this can be accomplished through empowering the Five Star Community to explore how their collaborative efforts propel learning forward so that school works for all students, no matter who they are or where they come from. Our Five Star Equity outcomes provide a model for our district and schools to reduce and eventually eliminate opportunity gaps.

Equity Review Updates
Through the equity review conducted in the 2021-2022 school year, both staff and community have identified a focus in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year to prioritize professional learning that develops more understanding of cultural and language differences and the impact on student learning. In 2021-2022 the district engaged in an equity review and through stakeholder feedback, determined the following next steps through a phased approach:
-
Phase 1: Establish culturally competent culture and common language to increase access and opportunity for all thriving learners.
-
Phase 2: Embed and expand on effective practices that cultivate a community for all learners to feel supported to meet high expectations.
-
Phase 3: Cultivate robust community and student engagement opportunities that foster agency.
