Adams 12 Five Star Schools is committed to providing an environment that promotes a healthy employee population able to serve our students at the highest level. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as other programs for benefit eligible employees. The employee assistance program, voluntary life insurance through PERA, and 401(k), 403(b) & 457(b) plans are available to all employees regardless of hours worked and are available immediately (upon hire date).

PERA is the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado. All district employees are PERA members as this replaces Social Security or OASDI.
Benefit Eligible Employees

Administrative Employees: Eligible if regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more in a week.

Educators/Certified Employees: Eligible if actively working - rates and accruals are adjusted based on FTE status.

Classified Employees: Eligible if regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or more in a week, not in a seasonal position.

Nutritional Services Employees: Eligible if regularly scheduled to work 25 hours or more in a week, not in a seasonal position.

Substitute Employees: Eligible if regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more in a week, not in a seasonal position.

"Full-time employees" within the meaning of Treas. Reg. Section 54.4980H-1(a)(21), as determined in the sole discretion of the Employer.
Effective Date of Benefits
Insurance coverage is effective the first of the month following eligibility. The election process must be completed within 30 days from the date of hire or benefit eligibility date. If not completed within 30 days of the event, all coverage will be waived and may not be changed unless an IRS qualifying event occurs or during an open enrollment period.

Paid Time Off
Paid time off is available to benefit eligible employees and is accrued based on classification and hours worked.
Disability Plans
Disability plans are available to benefit eligible employees. Sick leave bank is an optional plan for educator/certified and classified employees. Administrative employees are covered by standard short-term and long-term disability insurance. These disability plans provide continuation of salary during approved employee medical leaves of absence.
Enrollment for Benefit Eligible Employees
Benefit eligible employees will receive an email from the Benefits Team with instructions on how to enroll once eligible. The email will be sent to your Adams 12 district email account.
