Accessible Information and Communication Technology
1.0 The District is committed to procuring and developing accessible information and communication technology systems (“ICT”) where the principal function is the creation, manipulation, storage, display, receipt, or transmission of electronic data and information, as well as any associated content. ICT must be made accessible to individuals with a disability in accordance with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“WCAG”) 2.1 standards. Hardware must be accessible in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as amended in 1998. District departments may develop guidance to implement this policy subject to approval by the District’s General Counsel.
2.0 Any District employee who creates ICT is responsible for making the ICT accessible consistent with the WCAG 2.1 standards. For technical assistance, a District employee may contact the District’s Title IX/Nondiscrimination Coordinator who shall work with the appropriate department(s) to provide support.
3.0 Individuals with a disability who believe they have been discriminated against because of the District’s ICT may file a complaint under the District’s Nondiscrimination Policy, Policy 8400. Concerns with the District’s ICT or reasonable accommodations requests may be shared in person, on the phone, or in writing to the District’s Nondiscrimination Coordinator.
