Kids First Health Care offers primary health care for children from birth to age 21. Our clinics in the community serve all children and have no zip code restrictions. Our clinics accept Health First CO (Medicaid), CHP+ CO Access, and some private insurance. For patients who are uninsured and ineligible for Medicaid/CHP+, we offer an affordable sliding scale discount program, based on family size and income.

Our clinics offer the following health care services:

  • Annual physicals (which can be used for sports)
  • Immunizations
  • Sick visits
  • Management of chronic conditions (such as asthma and obesity)
  • Adolescent health services
  • Health education
  • Referrals to specialists and community resources.

Thornton High School Clinic: The new school-based health clinic at Thornton High School is now open. Health care is available to all Thornton High School and Bollman Technical Education Center students.

Medicaid/ CHP+: Kids First Health Care helps families apply and reapply for health insurance coverage for children and teens through the Health First CO (Medicaid) and CHP+ programs. Kids First is a certified application assistance site and Presumptive Eligibility (PE) Site for Medicaid and CHP+, so we can provide temporary health coverage to eligible children and help with renewal packets.

Counseling: Kids First Health Care partners with Community Reach Center to provide behavioral health consultation, therapy, and counseling for children and their families to support social‐emotional well‐being, hope, and recovery. Our bilingual, licensed mental health providers help patients develop ways to cope, reduce symptoms, and get referrals to other community providers as needed. Mental health counseling is part of our integrated model of care and is available to all patients regardless of their insurance or immigration status.

Immunizations: Kids First Health Care offers a walk-in immunization clinic twice a week for uninsured children and children on regular Medicaid. The walk-in clinic is open on Wednesday afternoon from 2-4pm at the Commerce City location and on Thursday afternoon from 1-4pm at the Westminster location.

The requirements for the walk-in immunization clinic include:

  • Children must be 4-18 years old
  • $14 for each shot, due at time of service
  • Child Immunization Record
  • Parent/guardian must accompany children
  • Regular Medicaid card (only if regular Medicaid)

Car Seat Education: Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians provide hands-on training on how to safely install and use car seats. Please call for an appointment.
