Thornton High School had a wonderful Dia de los Muertos event on November 3, 2021, hosted by the Hispanic Latino Student Union. The event featured a decorated, colorful altar with pictures of lost loved ones. A local group of Aztec dancers performed, even involving the attendees in a couple of the group dances. The Aztec dancer group is led by a former Thornton HS student, Xochitl Chavez. Xochitl has been part of the group for several years now and hopes to repeat the event again next year. In addition, everyone was able to sample the superb, Mexican hot chocolate and various Pan dulces available. It was a gorgeous, time-honored homage for everyone involved.
